Rajasthan is the largest producer of coriander in India with a share of roughly 38.84% of national production. The producing districts run through Jhalawar, Kota, Baran, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur and Jodhpur.

Kota and Baran form the country's coriander heartland. Ramganj Mandi and Baran in Rajasthan, along with Guna in Madhya Pradesh, are among the few large market yards where coriander seed is traded in scale.

The trade sorts on grain shape and colour rather than on chemistry. Eagle is the round, heavier, greener seed; Scooter is the split, lighter, oval type. Buyers choose between them by what the seed has to do — whole in a pickle, or ground into a base masala.
